This piece was inspired by a vintage photograph of my paternal grandparents sitting in a diner with another couple, drinking Coca-Colas and smoking. I shifted the perspective and altered the figures so they no longer resemble the original people, creating a scene that feels familiar yet unsettled. Set in the 1940s, a time often remembered as simpler despite its rigid gender expectations.
